ISESCO to Hold Quran Educational Meeting in Istanbul

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), in association with the Muslim World League-affiliated Holy Quran Memorization International Organization (HQMIO), and in coordination with Darüsselam Vakfı in Turkey, will hold an educational meeting for Quran memorizers, on 3-7 July 2010.

The meeting will bring together over fifty Quran memorizers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, the Philippines, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Benin, Kyrgyzstan, France, Tatarstan, Australia, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Turkey.

The meeting is aimed at celebrating Quran memorizers; improving their knowledge; teaching them new skills; strengthening their sense of belonging to the Muslim Ummah; preparing them to contribute to sustainable development, and boosting Quran education through the structuring, planning, development, follow-up and reform of Quranic institutions.

It will also consider ways to take advantage of the successful experiences of such institutions, and promote the use of such modern technological media as the internet, satellite channels and software in Quran education, while highlighting Quran memorization methods and ways to assess and develop them; and encouraging communication among Quran education experts and experience sharing among memorizers.

Dr Youssef Abou Daka, Programs Specialist at the Education Directorate, will supervise the meeting on behalf of ISESCO.
