The Second Conference of the humanitarian
organizations in the Member States of the
Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC)
commences today, Thursday 2nd April 2009, in
Tripoli, Libya. Over thirty-two Islamic
humanitarian organizations operating in the
OIC Member States take part in the
Conference.
This Second Conference is expected to review
and discuss the outcome of the First
Conference held in March 2008, which was
organized in Sali, Senegal, on the sidelines
of the 11th Islamic Summit held in Dakar.
Fifty participants will dwell on the
mechanisms and structure of Islamic
humanitarian organizations as well as the
ideal ways for the coordination of relief
work with the OIC.
Meetings by the Conference Preparatory
Committee were held on Wednesday, 1st April
2009, to discuss the required preparations
and arrangements. Attending the Conference
were the head of the OIC delegation,
Ambassador Atta Bakheet Al-Mannan, Assistant
Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs,
and Dr. Ibrahim Ali El-Rabw, the Secretary
of the Office of Conferences, International
Agencies and Relief at the World Islamic
Call Society (WICS).
